The people behind Gutter Pro

On September 21, 1989 Hurricane Hugo hit South Carolina. Donnie Way was living in Charlotte at that time, operating a small residential construction company specializing in top-quality homes. Hugo changed his business overnight. Way’s Company went to work helping to rebuild North and South Carolina. It was that rebuilding work which led Donnie Way to invent a totally new design in covered gutters a design which is now widely recognized as the best gutter protector money can buy.

Inspired by the idea for the new gutter, Way worked for several years to perfect the design. The design was patented, and a North Carolina manufacturing facility went into operation.

Needing a larger facility in early 1996, Way moved his production facility to West Columbia, nearer to his Orangeburg County birthplace. Now his Lexington county plant is in full gear, supplying Gutter Pro products to various parts of the nation.

Way says his products are selling well because homeowners want to protect large investments in their homes.

“Clogged rain gutters can cause major structural damage, and homeowners don’t know until it’s too late,” explains Way. “Clogged gutters can allow water build-up. Standing water can leak into your home and rot the roof or damage sofits, support joists and inside ceilings.”

“Another potential serious problem is termites,” Way Adds. “When damp leaves build up into chumps, they become a breeding place for wood boring insects.”

Gutter Pro’s patented design has been engineered to remove rainwater running off a roof at a rate of 7” per hour. Three uniquely angled surfaces on the gutter cover slow the speed of the water on each surface. Water is allowed into the drain while other materials are filtered out.

There are several big advantages to Gutter Pro. “By having Gutter Pro installed you’ll never need to clean your gutter again,” Way says. “The system is made of recycled aluminum, very simple to install without any special tools, and carries a performance guarantee and limited lifetime warranty.”
